Membership -
Your participation helps us help the people we serve!

We see people, not their disabilities. We look for new opportunities in our local communities, bringing people together by discovering a common experience instead of distancing ourselves by emphasizing our differences. People are the reason for our success and you have the opportunity to help us build on our success. Membership matters!

For only $1 per year, you can make a huge difference in the lives of many -
This is a pledge for advocacy, strengthening our voice, empowering our individuals to be heard.  Please help us today and become a member using our convenient online tools.

Why is membership important?

As we continue to move forward, our organization faces challenges given the current economic climate. Our answer to these challenges is strength in numbers. A one year Membership only costs $1 but helps our organization in many ways. Every member makes a difference!

  • Our membership means clout! It gives us a louder and stronger voice that is heard by state legislators and national policy makers on decisions that affect the people we support.
  • A larger membership influences local politicians to support legislation that protects and provides for the people we serve, their families and direct support professionals.
  • Membership helps provide individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities more access to programs and services through fundraising and advocacy efforts.
  • Membership means a better-informed public. Awareness is the first step in increasing society-wide acceptance of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities as being productive and contributing members of the community.

What Membership Does for You...

  • It provides opportunities to volunteer on WWAARC organizational committees that directly impact the lives of individuals we serve.
  • It gives you opportunities to network with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and other professionals in the field.
  • You will receive invitations to WWAARC events and celebrations.
  • It allows you opportunities to participate in organized efforts in advocating at all government levels, such as lobby days at the state legislature and meetings with local politicians to discuss issues of concern to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • It provides you with periodic informational publications on issues currently affecting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, families and professionals who provide direct support. When you become a Member of WWAARC, you also automatically become a member of the statewide organization, NYSARC, Inc., and the national organization, The Arc of the United States.
